Wolf Run 2018 – Big Wipes team runs like the wolf

Wolf Run 2018 was about Wild Running.  In other words,  a unique combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs.  This year’s event was a hardcore 10km run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud.  Naturally, the Big Wipes team was up for the challenge.

Big Wipes team gets down and dirty

The concept behind the Wolf Run 2018 was to re-create the feeling of running in natural terrain.  Running in a pack, the Big Wipes team tackled a series of tough obstacles – both man-made and natural.  Above all, these are designed to test their mental & physical strength, skill and stamina. They ran, climbed, jumped, waded, crawled and swum through a course designed to challenge them on every level.

Apparently, they also had fun at Wolf Run 2018?

How is the Wolf Run different from other off-road events?

The organisers explain this as follows:

“Off-road running is becoming increasingly popular and justifiably so.  Getting off the pavements and treadmills into interesting, challenging terrain is amazingly good for you physically and mentally. We are often asked how we are different from the other obstacle/trail/mud runs.  The answer is that we combine the best features of all three types of run!

Wolves

“Our courses are a unique mix of great running trails across open ground and through woodland. There are a series of physical challenges using man-made obstacles.  Mostly however, the run course features a huge number of nature’s finest obstacles, from lake swims to mud pits, fallen trees, boggy ground, ditches, hills and dense foliage.  These all serve to make the run more organic and recreates a natural, wild run. Every step will test you mentally and physically, taking you back to a primal, instinctive way of running in raw, challenging terrain.

“The design of our obstacles is also overseen by a fitness professional with a Masters in Sports Science and years of experience in functional fitness training. This ensures that your entire body is challenged by the design of our course.  It provides an excellent all-body workout that will leave you fitter, stronger and more confident.”
